Festival Hill Institute in Round Top, Texas is a beautiful location for photoshoots and couple’s sessions. It offers a mix of historic architecture, gardens, and natural scenery all in one place. Hailey and Brady’s Festival Hill Institute photoshoot took place in the spring when the flowers were in full bloom and ended with the warmest, glowing sunset throughout the property.

Why I Love A Festival Hill Institute Photoshoot

Festival Hill Institute is surrounded by mature oak trees, carefully maintained gardens, and historic buildings that create a variety of backdrops all within one location.

What makes this space especially special is the balance between natural beauty and timeless architecture. Couples can have portraits that feel elegant and refined while still incorporating the movement of an outdoor setting. Plus, it offers a classic European setting without having to leave Texas.

For Hailey and Brady’s session, the gardens were at their peak. The flowers added beautiful color and texture throughout the property.

Exploring Edythe Bates Old Chapel & Herzstein Plaza

One of the highlights of Festival Hill Institute is the Edythe Bates Old Chapel. Built in 1883, the chapel features beautiful historic details, including stained glass windows, ornate woodwork, chandeliers, and classic architecture.

While Hailey and Brady’s session focused on the outdoor areas of the property, the chapel adds another layer of charm for couples looking for a location with a sense of history. The building’s timeless details make it a beautiful option for portraits and wedding celebrations alike.

Nearby, Herzstein Plaza is another stunning area with open-air charm and elegant surroundings. The combination of stone details, landscaping, and surrounding gardens just can’t be beaten.

Sunset Portraits in the McAshan Gardens

The McAshan Gardens were one of my favorite parts of Hailey and Brady’s session. With everything in bloom, the gardens provided a romantic backdrop. As the sun began to set, the entire space transformed. The warm light created a beautiful glow!

Golden hour is always one of my favorite times to photograph couples. The softer light creates flattering tones and allows for images that feel warm, natural, and timeless. Hailey and Brady’s session was the perfect example of why choosing the right time of day can make such a difference.

Booking a Photo Session at Festival Hill Institute

Outdoor two-hour photo sessions are available throughout the property, including areas like the stone bridges, herb gardens, and the area in front of the chapel. Indoor sessions are also available inside the Menke House, or couples can choose a longer session that combines both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The venue does require a request form (which you can find on their website) at least two weeks in advance, so planning ahead is important.
